The good half-day trips fill weeks ahead and the great ones go first. Below: the 14 to book early, what each includes and how they differ.
Spend four hours learning to surf with Lets Go Surfing Byron, including about two hours on the beach and in the water. Instructors such as Sam, Ava, Johnny, and Fred focus on safety, paddling, and standing, with scenic stops around Lennox Head and a possible tea-tree lake swim.

Meet Escape Surf School near Belushis in central Newquay for a two-hour lesson split between beach tuition and Atlantic waves. Beginners learn with a stabilizing tail-hold method, while improvers work on paddling, turning, wave reading, and control. Boards, wetsuits, boots, gloves, and hot showers are included.

Meet Bovec-SUP in central Bovec for a private half-day outing on the Soča. You’ll ride in an air-conditioned vehicle, learn SUP basics, paddle through quiet gorges, try simple board tricks, and enjoy snacks. Boards, paddles, wetsuits, and life vests are included.

Build your own four-hour outing at Boardman Lake with bikes, kayaks, or stand-up paddleboards from The River Outfitters. You can cycle scenic trails, paddle toward Hull Park or Delamar, and choose your pace without a guide. Equipment and help are provided at the Traverse City base.
“Great way to spend a day in town getting some exercise while also having fun! We started with a bike around the lake, stopping at the Filling Station and Right Brain Brewery for a beer and a snack. This left plenty of time for a paddle out along the shore, where we saw mink, loons, turtles and of course plenty of geese and swans. I was born and raised in TC and would recommend this for anyone, both locals and visitors. Staff was friendly, efficient and the equipment was in fine condition. Thank you!”
From central Bovec, Marci, Seb, or another Bovec-SUP guide drives you through Predil Pass to Lake Predil. Learn SUP basics, paddle around the lake, stop by a waterfall for a snack, and enjoy swimming, games, tricks, and optional cliff jumping in a small group.

Launch from downtown Tavares with a single or tandem kayak or paddleboard, then follow the Dora Canal toward Lake Dora at your own pace. Adventure Outdoor Paddle provides safety gear, basic instruction, a map, and route tips. Katrina may be your friendly point of contact.

Spend four hours paddling Rouda Bay from Mikros Gialos with a certified English or Greek-speaking guide such as Yannis or Selma. Visit a cave beach, water-only Peristera Beach, and limestone coves, with swim stops, a light snack, and gear included.

Set sail from Marina Polesana with an English-speaking skipper, possibly David, for four hours along Pula’s coast. You’ll view Brijuni, stop at Kozada Island and another cove, and use the SUP, snorkeling gear, shared GoPro, WiFi, music, and included drinks.

Spend up to four hours at Wakeboard Cable Krk in Bay of Punat. Choose wakeboarding or waterskiing, get equipment and a safety briefing, then learn your first start with an instructor. Experienced riders can use the table, slider, kickers, and 650-meter cable course.

Meet guide Michael at Divito Park for a two-hour paddle through New Smyrna’s waterways. Learn SUP basics on shore and in the water, or choose a kayak. Stop on small islands, pass mangroves, and watch for dolphins, manatees, turtles, pelicans, crabs, and conch.

Leave Las Vegas for a guided paddleboard trip from Willow Beach to Emerald Cave. You’ll get safety instruction, snacks, spring water, and help from CPR-trained guides such as Michelle or Matthew. Expect a scenic river outing with swimming, wildlife spotting, and a moderate workout.

Spend 210 minutes surfing with Jo Bunel, Jonathan, or another qualified instructor in a private group of up to four. Your lesson can focus on first waves, technique, family fun, or a taxi-and-surf trip to quieter Basque or Landes beaches.

Meet Captain Dan or Captain Wendy at 1000 Front St for a private four-hour outing aboard the 2Captains MasterCraft boat. Choose wakeboarding, wakesurfing, or kneeboarding. Boards and safety gear are supplied, and the trip returns to the launch point.

Pick up a stand up paddleboard from Bill Dvorak Kayak and Rafting Expeditions near Nathrop, then paddle on the waterway of your choice for about four hours. No experience is required, and your rental includes a PFD, helmet, adjustable paddle, and leash. Plan your own transport to the launch site.
